Republicans Really Hate The Press Part II
Can you smell that? That’s the scent of the GOP against the press.

House Republican leaders are expected to introduce a resolution today condemning The New York Times for publishing a story last week that exposed government monitoring of banking records.

The resolution is expected to condemn the leak and publication of classified documents, said one Republican aide with knowledge of the impending legislation.

The resolution comes as Republicans from the president on down condemn media organizations for reporting on the secret government program that tracked financial records overseas through the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT), an international banking cooperative.

From day one, the GOP has been trying to shut the press down. First, they claimed “liberal bias” when the press reported the facts about the administration. Now, they are trying to send a loud and clear message to the media: their journalism will not be tolerated.

I do not expect this to pass, but the fact that Republicans are trying to put pressure on the press is disgusting. I have a feeling that this is just the first shot in a long battle that will be waged before midterm elections. Anyone who doesn’t eat the Republican spin will be painted as the enemy. They know, that with the press reporting facts about them, they have little chance of keeping a majority in November.

This is truly frightening.
